Movie Review: Prometheus (2012)

Prometheus was a Greek Titan who created man from clay.  He represents the human quest for scientific knowledge with the risk of overreaching. With that said, the 2012 Ridley Scott film, Prometheus was perfectly named.

Prometheus takes place in the late 21st century where a crew from Earth is on a quest on a space ship named Prometheus, to another planet seeking the origin and creation of the human race. Initial research lands them on a planet where they believe they can find human “engineers”. What they find is quite disturbing and leaves the viewer questioning the creation of man.

I’m not going to spoil the entire movie because it is absolutely worth seeing. I will however mention that the closing scene shows that this is the prequel to 1979’s Alien which came as a complete surprise. My brother and I decided to rent a movie and found this one to be the only movie worth watching. I did absolutely no research before watching the film and I absolutely loved it. I want to also mention that I hate all “scary” movies. This movie wasn’t scary, but it’s not the typical movie I’d watch on a Saturday afternoon…or ever.

I normally don’t do movie reviews, but I think I might start. I would give Prometheus . The film was thrilling, engaging and really makes you question who or what anyone’s God really is. Make sure you check it out!
