On our way from Paris to Barcelona, we spent the Fourth of July on the beautiful beach in Montpellier. Montpellier is a small town in the south of France that sits on the Mediterranean Sea. Similar to Bruges, we were there for a short period of time, so we didn’t get a chance to experience what the town has to offer (mainly architecture, art, and lots of wine).
During our very short stay, we had a picnic, drank some booze, and just relaxed. It was The perfect way for a group of 30 20-something proud Americans to spend our country’s day of independence abroad. It was also a great time to reflect on our journey and how living in the US will never be the same.
Based on the vibe and what I’ve read about Montpellier and the South of France (Bordeaux, Marseille, Toulouse, Valence, etc.), I definitely would love to go back during wine festival season. The South of France is a great place for anyone to visit with a significant other if you’re looking for something a little outside the norm. Santé!
