Not Giving a Fuck is Easier Than You Think

My dear friend, Stella, who most of you know from our short stint of eating out and writing about our meals in the Dine n’ Dash section, sent me this awesome link of a Ted Talk called “The Art of Not Giving a Fuck”. This adds to my recent post, Routine is the Enemy of Time and how important it is to live your life the way you want.

Rather than me breaking it down for you, take the 12 minutes to watch the video. I cannot stress enough that everything she says is completely true and will help you live a happier and healthier life.

Enjoy!

Play Something Country: On To Something Good

This week’s Play Something Country comes from the very talented Ashley Monroe. I was fortunate enough to see her live when she opened for Miranda Lambert this year and I can honestly say she is extremely talented. She very much so reminds me of a young Dolly Parton. Monroe’s “On To Something Good” comes from her 2015 album The Blade. Enjoy!

Clip of the Week: I Want to Channing All Over Your Tatum

I mean, how do you NOT want to channing all over his tatum? This is pretty funny. Had me giggling all morning. Enjoy!

Play Something Country: Just a Dream

Carrie Underwood’s “Just A Dream” comes from her 2007 album, Carnival. This song gets me choked up every time. It is sung so beautifully, yet it is such a sad story.

Friday Favorites: November 22nd, 2013

Happy Friday! Let’s get this started…

1

BUSTER BLUTH
Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE Arrested Development. Not only that, but my favorite character (basically of all time) is Buster Bluth. I came across the Buzzfeed 37 Signs You Might Be Buster Bluth and thought I was going to die laughing while reminiscing on all of the amazing Buster moments from the first three seasons.

LEATHER LEGGINGS
I recently made a purchase on faux leather leggings, and may I say that I LOVE them. Not only are the comfortable, but they look pretty sleek and classy. I recommend making the purchase. Here are a few links of where you can buy a nice pair:

MUSIC: Birdy “Skinny Love”
“Skinny Love” is a song originally by BON IVER (for the original version, click here), but Birdy, a singer born in 1996 from Lymington, Hampshire, UK does a piano version of the song that I really enjoy listening to. This song has been out for a while, and I will say that I’ve been listening to it for about a year, but it never gets old.

RASHIDA JONES

Rashida-Jones

After watching Celeste and Jesse Forever (check out my review of the movie here), I cannot help but now love Rashida Jones. I never appreciated her because she came from parents already in the industry. But, now that I know that she wrote this movie, and after seeing her act the way she did, I can’t help but respect the hell out of her. Her role as Celeste has even brought me to respect her other roles; Anne Perkins in Parks and Recreation, Paul Rudd’s fiancee in I Love You, Man, her role as Jim’s ex-girlfriend in The Office, Paul Rudd’s lesbian sister in Our Idiot Brother, etc. I am now looking to rent all of the movies she’s in (minus the ones I’ve already seen) and go in with a different perspective.

RECIPE: Terah’s “Spicy” Chicken Legs
I will admit, I do not like spicy foods, but I LOVE chicken wings. After years of trying to figure out the right amount of “spiciness” to add to homemade chicken wings, I have concocted the perfect recipe (I’m obviously biased to my own cooking abilities). I call these “Terah’s ‘Spicy’ Chicken Legs”.

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken legs
  • 1/8 cup red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp. black pepper
  • 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. Hot Sauce
  • 2 tbsp. Chipolte Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. Chunky Blue Cheese for dipping

Boil a pot of water and add the red pepper flakes and black pepper. Once the water turns a reddish tint, I add the chicken legs and boil for 5 to 8 minutes.

Then pull out the chicken and dump the water, but take the pot and put it back on the burner.

In a tupperware container, mix the oil, hot sauce and chipolte mayo. Add the chicken and shake the container until the chicken is covered in the sauce. From there, dump everything in the container into the pot that has been sitting on the burner.

On high, let the chicken cook for 3 minutes. Then turn the burner on medium (on a scale of 1-10, around a 4), put the lid on the pot, and let cook for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, flip the chicken, and cover the pot again.

The chicken should be cooked after 5 minutes, but I would check to make sure they legs are cooked through entirely.

I then garnish with a small ramekin of blue cheese (I recommend Ken’s Steak House Chunky Blue Cheese, but everyone has their preference). Enjoy!

Clip of the Week: Ashton Kutcher Fan Fiction

This is one of the best videos I have come across in a long time. This child has some balls getting up in front of her school and reading her fan fiction. I’ve had a few friends compare her to Napoleon Dynamite, but I think she is way better than Napoleon could ever be. Enjoy this gem, and I would LOVE to start a conversation in the comment section about your favorite parts.

Ride

For the record, my new found obsession with Lana Del Rey is 150% my roommate’s fault. (Yes my second Lana mention in two weeks. See my first mention here). I take no responsibility for this.

Lana is an odd soul, but one I am deeply entertained by. I do not think she’s a good role model for kids because she talks about needing a man and what not, but I’m 25-years-old, and I can’t be influenced at this point in my life by a celebrity. She even admits who she is, at the end of the video she goes “I am fucking crazy, but I’m free” – not many people can admit that about themselves.

With that being said, I cannot stop listening to this song. The music video is so weird, but the song is great. “Ride” comes from 2012 deluxe album Born to Die. I think you all will enjoy it.

Clip of the Week: Prancercise

My dear friend sent me this clip today and I loved every minute of it…well, maybe not the first 20 seconds. At first, you’ll watch this and wonder why you are. Then, you’ll understand. Enjoy!
